Dog Litter Training
Dog Litter Training provides a fantastic solution for those of you with canines that have the occasional accident.
Dogs that are housetrained are aware that doing anything they shouldn’t in house is wrong and this can cause them to be very upset and embarrassed. This little problem can be easily eliminated by introducing a simple training procedure known as Litter Training.
As dogs get older or even when they are ill they tend to have the odd accident and eliminating indoors should not be seen as a problem. Instead a litter box will help them to feel secure about not being in trouble when you get home after a long day at work.
Litter Training can be started immediately. Don’t be afraid to introduce it especially if your dog has the ability to learn fast. Puppies obviously have an advantage with time on their side and starting training with them straight away is definitely advisable.
To begin you will have to buy a litter box and the supplies that come with it. Cleaning supplies must be used to clean any smells and stains from previous accidents. This will mean that no odours are left that represent previous ‘spots’. Providing your dog with one, designated place for eliminating is vital.
Housebroken dogs might find the idea of eliminating in the house a bit confusing but all this means is that you will have to spend a bit more time working your way through the training process.
When cleaning the box make sure you do not dispose of anything down the toilet as there can be blockages and that’s something you don’t want. Use a rubbish bag and also use a scooper or simply empty the box in one go.
When training make sure you congratulate your dog whenever he is successful and also encourage him to use the box especially on days when it is raining or when you see he is desperate to go.
Once the whole process is complete you will have a dog that is confident in the house when on its own. He will know that using the box is ok and that you will be happy to see him doing what you taught him.
